Born in Lugang Township, Changhua County in 1912, Mr. Huang traveled to Japan at the age of 26 to establish Hotai Trading Company, thus beginning his life as a businessman. After returning to Taiwan at the age of 35, he founded Hotai Motor Co., Ltd. and “Wei Chuan Foods Corporation”, engaging in the development and production of MSG, soy sauce, sauces, dairy products, and other food products that are essential to people’s daily lives.

In response to the government’s policy for dairy farming, Wei Chuan took the lead in increasing domestic production of raw milk and reducing imports of dairy products, thereby contributing to the economic growth of rural areas. Wei Chuan has become the first in the industry to engage in the business of fresh milk, leading to growth of the domestic fresh milk market. Furthermore, Wei Chuan has overcome technological difficulties in R&D and become the first to develop low-fat fresh milk, which can be consumed by lactose-intolerant people with assurance. Mr. Huang was honored as the “Father of the Dairy Industry” for his efforts in promoting dairy farming and for developing the domestic fresh milk market.

Mr. Huang believed that “whatever is taken from society should be used for society”. He devoted himself to social charity after achieving enormous success in his business, and he founded charitable organizations such as the “Wei Chuan Educational Foundation” and the “Huang Lieh-Ho Foundation”, which are dedicated to caring for socially disadvantaged people and supporting arts and cultural exhibitions and performances and other charitable activities. He passed away in March 2010 at the age of 100.
