With food safety as its DNA, Wei Chuan strictly monitors every detail from farm to table to build and implement a transparent, open and safe supply chain system in accordance with national food safety policies to enhance its product standards in line with international requirements. Prioritizing consumers’ right to know and to eat healthily and with assurance, Wei Chuan will never stop pursuing food safety in order to contribute to the enhancement of Taiwan’s food industry, become a model for Taiwan’s food industry, and create a safe and healthy eating environment.
Food safety commitments and actionsIn terms of food safety, we are committed to safety, transparency and openness, and will continue to take three actions:
Food safety is both the DNA of Wei Chuan and the lifelong work of our employees. We will never compromise in our demand for quality, a belief we have been adhering to for a long time. We firmly believe that food safety has no limit and will keep improving. Therefore, our strategy for sustainable food safety requires that we make Wei Chuan a food company whose products all meet international standards by acquiring key international certifications for all of our plants and production lines.
Certifications and recognitionOver the past years, we acquired international certifications of quality and management for the product lines of our plants, including the maintenance of two GFSI-recognized international certification systems, SQF and FSSC 22000, as well as the internationally recognized ISO 22000 certification system, by our plants.
There are a total of five QA and inspection labs at our plants in Taiwan and at the Central Research Institute in the Headquarters. Among them, the Analysis and Inspection Center at the Central Research Institute in Xizhi, New Taipei City, and the Douliu Inspection Center, have received the TFDA and TAF certifications.
In terms of product awards, Wandan Purple Taro Drink, Egg Brulee with Honey Flavor and Classic Panna Cotta have been selected as “Eatender Food”, and Classic Panna Cotta has also won the honor of the Eatender Food Silver Award for desserts.
Environmental ideas in actionWei Chuan recognizes that a company must take on more responsibilities to actively face the challenges of climate change. Therefore, Wei Chuan actively seeks to reduce the environmental impact of our use of water, electricity, oil, gas, and paper, and waste generation during the life cycle of our products. In addition, Wei Chuan has been organizing internal and external education and awareness sessions on environmental protection for a long time, based on the spirit of “respecting Mother Nature”, to communicate and implement the idea of “spiritual environmental protection” with respect to employees and their families, suppliers, partners and society.
Harmonious and inclusive societyOn the path to sustainable development, Wei Chuan adheres to its founder’s original idea of “A Better Life and A Harmonious Society” by providing a safe work environment where employees can balance work and family, and by enhancing the competencies of employees, allowing them to grow and thrive together with Wei Chuan to create a positive influence on society, which has become our focus for employee care and social engagement.
Toward the futureIn the course of business development of the food industry, Wei Chuan expects to play an important role in the upgrading of Taiwan’s food industry, and we take practical actions to lead the positive development of society to achieve a harmonious society, which has always been our original goal in promoting corporate sustainable development and the basis for sustainable business management. In 2022, the Board of Directors approved an organization for promotion of corporate sustainable development and established the “Corporate Sustainable Development Steering Committee” and the “Corporate Sustainable Development Committee” to achieve the sustainable development goals in the annual work plan.
