We used a systematic analysis model to identify sustainability issues of concern to stakeholders and assess the level of impact each issue may have on Wei Chuan. The main analysis procedures are described below:
Through the assistance of external experts and internal discussions, the list of key issues was compiled based on the five aspects of corporate governance, services and products, community care, employee care and environmental friendliness, taking into account the characteristics of the food industry, with reference to the fourth-generation standards of sustainability reporting (G4.0) published by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the industry-specific indicators issued by GRI.
Internal questionnaires were distributed to representatives of the departments corresponding to each category of stakeholders to assess the level of concern of they may have with the key issues, with a score ranging from 1 to 5.
Representatives of the departments corresponding to each category of stakeholders met with external experts to discuss and analyze the economic, environmental, social and product impacts on Wei Chuan, with a score ranging from 0 to 6.
The weighted average score of each issue was calculated by counting the valid questionnaires returned and the impact scores discussed internally, and a matrix was drawn. After internal discussions with senior management, issues with a total weighted score of over 7 (with a score range from 1 to 11) with respect to the level of concern of stakeholders and the level of impact on Wei Chuan were defined as Wei Chuan’s material CSR issues of the current year. Following an evaluation of the completeness of each issue in terms of scope, boundary of consideration and time, the results of implementation, communication channels and frequency of communication for the material issues of the current year are summarized in this report.
Issues with higher “level of impact on Wei Chuan” and “level of concern of stakeholders” in the matrix are designated as material. We identified 14 material issues, as shown in the figure below:
